چکیده
In this contribution, we address the comparison of Subspace (SS), Linear Prediction (LP) and Constant Modulus (CM) identi caton/equalization algorithms in terms of robustness to loss of Fractionally-Spaced channel disparity. We show that SS procedure leads to an inconsistent channel estimation. Investigating a left-inverse channel estimation, we show that LP results in the estimation of the so-called minimum-phase multivariate channel factorization. We show that CM criterion still perform reasonable channel estimation, even if proper algorithm initialization is still a critical subject.

Fractionally spaced equalization using CMA: robustness to channel noise and lack of disparity
In the noise-free case, the fractionally spaced equalization using constant modulus (FSE-CM) criterion has been studied previously. Its minima were shown to achieve perfect equalization when zero-forcing (ZF) conditions are satisfied and to be able to still achieve fair equalization when there is lack of disparity. However, to our best knowledge, the effect of additive channel noise on the FSE-...
متن کاملA Modified T/2 Fractionally Spaced Coordinate Transformation Blind Equalization Algorithm
When T/2 Fractionally Spaced blind Equalization Algorithm based Constant Modulus Algorithm (T/2-FSECMA) is employed for equalizing higher order Quadrature Amplitude Modulation signals (QAM), it has disadvantages of low convergence speed and large Mean Square Error (MSE). For overcoming these disadvantages, a Modified T/2 Fractionally Spaced blind Equalization algorithm based on Coordinate Trans...
متن کاملFractionally-spaced constant modulus algorithm blind equalizer error surface characterization: effects of source distributions
The Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) [11], [5] is a popular blind equalization algorithm. A common device used in demonstrating the convergence properties of CMA is the assumption that the source sequence is iid (independent, identically distributed). Recent results in the literature show that a finite length fractionally-spaced equalizer allows for perfect equalization of moving average channe...
متن کاملError surfaces of normalized blind channel equalization algorithms
Some recent normalized constant modulus algorithms possess surprisingly improved error performance surfaces (EPSs). In this paper, we look at the EPSs of these algorithms in the symbol-spaced setting. The lack of channel disparity in the fractionally-spaced setting is also considered. It is found that normalization has a decreasing e ect as the equalizer length is increased and causes the stati...
متن کاملBlind Adaptive Channel Equalization Using Fractionally-spaced Receivers: a Comparison Study
| The open literature is replete with claims about convergence beneets associated with popular second-order-statistics (SOS) blind channel estima-tion/equalization algorithms. Surprisingly, the literature is at the same time sparse in addressing robustness concerns of these algorithms. This paper is intended to motivate interest in the study of such robustness concerns by providing a simulation...
